What's on my desk this week is a bit of crazy patchwork I'm putting together. It's the front of another cushion cover, This one for my DIL ... her bedroom is decorated in shades of purple and lilac. My daughter's chose the same for her room too so I must assume it's an 'on trend' colour combination :)
The pile at left back is some card blanks on top of a box of stash just waiting to be used ... on what I don't know yet, but I'm still trying to discipline myself to use up hoarded stuff before I buy any more. Next to that are the tins of sewing stuff, and more sewing stuff on the desk, a timer (rarely used) a few random punches, some die-cut poinsettias left over from the all-white card shown in the last post, my mobile in it's wee knitted cosy, and a tin of Stick-Away, used earlier to clean glue of my scissors and a stamping block - they were a right old mess. Oh, and the sewing machine, of course.
That's it this week - keeping it brief to please Julia, she who is the keeper of the desks :) Want to see what's on more workdesks (tables, kitchen worktops, a floor or two, and even a washing machine top for one crafter, I kid you not!)? Just hop on over to the Stamping Ground - you can join in too, if you haven't already.
As usual, I'm hoping to visit as many of you as possible in the next day or so ... I've long given up attempting to do it all in one day :)
Take care everyone and have happy WOYWW.
Looks good...you have really embraced sewing and quilting!
ReplyDeleteI need to use my stash too. If I loved it enough to once buy it, it needs used! That is my new motto!
What a great way to use scraps of material up and it will be a pretty pillow when it's done :)

That all look rather tricky sewing that patch work pattern, but i bet it's going to look good when the cushion is finished. Happy woyww Jill #40
ReplyDeleteThat's nice you can use up scraps of material and yet make things your family want in the colours they choose! Very practical........

Wow, I LOVE that crazy patchwork..what a fab idea and great for using up scraps, I should imagine! Lovely choice of colours there, you have a good eye. I'm going to try that technique and make smaller square blocks for quilts cos I have a lot of scraps to find a home for!

I just love crazy patchwork - more fun than the regular squares :) Ahhh, the bane of every crafter - using up what we already have before buying more...
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW and have a wonderful week!

Pretty in action this morning Elizabeth! I wonder what the timer is used for..however rarely..o your desk. are you like my doctor? making every job a five minute challenge?!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use up all those scraps of material. Lovely colour combo.
ReplyDeleteSandra @22
A great idea Elizabeth and one I should embrace- if only there were more hours in the day. Happy WOYWW Anne X
ReplyDeleteNow who can the washing machine top belong too I wonder? I count myself as very fortunate since we moved house at the beginning of last year. No more working on the dining table - two dedicated art spaces. One for me, and one for Margaret (glitterandglue). Have a good WOYWW, kind regards, John-W #58.
ReplyDeleteA handmade patchwork cushion is a great idea, much more special than buying from the shop.

Lovely colours on the patchwork, Elizabeth. Have fun with it. Good busy desk, with lots of things going on! What is the timer for? Can't imagine timing myself at my craft...
ReplyDeleteNo post this week as I have been away and only got back last night.

Cute patchwork. Every time I say I'm going to use up what I have before I buy, it never works out. Good luck to you on that one. Happy crafting #5
ReplyDeleteLoving the look of the patchwork - I had a purple bedroom as a teenager - must be coming back on trend, lol! Helen 19

Hi Elizabeth and Happy WOYWW! The patchwork looks great. What a lucky DIL (I just figured out what the acronym means). And yes even here in California USA the purples are everywhere! I make painted purses and purple is by far the favorite. I am trying to use everything up too before buying more and now my "almost-maybe-someday DIL" just bought me a HUGE bottle of purple since I ran out. Have fun with the cushion cover. Rasz #125
ReplyDeleteOoooo, that pillow is going to be lovely. Crazy patchwork is fun, but so is buying new fabrics! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog earlier and for the kind comments.
Happy Woyww,

Crazy patchwork sounds like something those of us who can't sew would create.lol... I am loving the varied angles and colors. I am a big fan of purple too. Have a fabulous week! and Happy WOYWW! Danie #48
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comment re Jacquie's workspace - she read my blog and the comments and was really touched by all the positivity. Yes you would love to work with her on a little quilting project - although it looks as if you are getting on very nicely by yourself. Your crazy quilt cushion will be perfect I am sure - love the colours. x Jo
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm so late in paying you a visit this week but it's been really manic here this week.

The colors look beautiful together! I'm sure they will both be pleased with what you make! I don't know if they are the latest and greatest thing either, but I really like the way they look!!

Cool! If I ever ventured to make a quilt, I probably would try a crazy patchwork piece, because I love the unique patterns you can create. Sorry for the late WOYWW visit.

Cannot believe I missed commenting. Love your desk today, full of fabric type goodies.
ReplyDeleteI think that little house is full of pins - I have one that Jo bought me once.
Hugs, neet xx
What a tidy space you have for your crazy quilting. That's a lovely color combo going on here. Somebody is lucky to have a sweet MIL (and Mom) to make something so pretty for them. TFS
