Special Friend - A Snippet Sunday Card

Afternoon All

I've been out and about today so probably missed a lot of action in blogland. I trust you have all had a lovely Sunday and maybe even got a bit of crafting fitted in to your day too.

We've been to the garden centre - the one that has my favourite craft shop in it. I had a wee list of things I was looking for, essentials of course, and managed to find a few, e.g. glue tapes, a white pen, a white ink pad, but no Mr Hueys and no Frantage ... what a shame! However, I'm delighted with what I did find - and that's the pocket money spent for this month :)

Anyway, on to the card for Pixie's Crafty Snippets Playground - Week 62

The snippet is the patterned paper - a leftover from the Christmas card featured in the previous post. This time I've switched to the B side of the paper and married it up with pink and silver. Once again, my new ribbon filing system has proved it's worth - I had completely forgotten that I had this deep pink silk ribbon until now - I've even forgotten the source! I've teamed it with some pink and white lace trim and a pink gem brad - from Docrafts, I think.

The belly band - there's that term again, Di - and greeting are Craftwork Cards, and the finishing touch, the pink gems, came from my stash.

And that is my offering for today. I've made some headway with the stamp catalogue - really chuffed with how things are going even though my fingers are covered in black ink most of the time!

I managed to catch Barbara Gray's morning show - recorded the afternoon show to watch later - and liked some of her stamps a lot ... but I'm buying no more stamps until I've completed the cataloguing of those I already have. However, she did mention gelli plates too ... there's a lot of them about in blogland and I'm definitely intrigued. I look forward to finding out more when she brings them to C&C next month.

I'll finish by telling you that I've finally watched the latest James Band movie, Skyfall, and thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a couple of moments when I had to cover my eyes, but, for the most part, it was great to watch. I won't say anymore just in case some of you have still to see it - wouldn't like to spoil it for anyone :)

Gotta go - time for tea.

Take care everyone and happy crafting,

  5. What gorgeous colours - the ribbon is just lush!!

Gelli plates: back in the 60s, long before computers came along, my mother wrote out her Christmas letters and replicated them on gelli plates. It amuses me no end that they now seem to be the 'in thing' for papercrafters! It's good to see such an old method being given new life.

    Have a great week!

  10. Lovely card, Elizabeth. I have not managed to get into the playground much this year (which is galloping so fast). Thank you for your lovely comments on my card, and I am glad you managed to watch Barbara this weekend. I have only managed to see half the morning's programme so far as all the grandchildren were around together, but I do have it recorded for later. Today was good and I managed to put together another topper for the DT for April. xx Maggie

  12. Beautiful snippets card, Elizabeth! I'm learning still more new lingo ... belly bands and gelli plates, huh? I'm wondering if you have too many gelli plates, do you then need a belly band?
