WOYWW 179 - What's On Your Desk Wednesday

Hi WOYWWers, Followers and All,

Wednesday really has crept up on me this week ... it seems like only yesterday it was the weekend. And being Wednesday it's time to reveal my desk in all it's glory. But before I do I'd like to welcome my newest follower and encourager, Diana ... thank you for joining me here. I hope you continue to pop in whenever you can and perhaps even leave the occasional comment - always appreciated :)

Okay, here's the state of my desk today for your delectation.

Oh my, where do I begin!!! This is a long view in the other direction showing a teensy weensy glimpse of the other worktop in the top right corner ... you can even just spot my wastepaper basket from this angle.

To the front is a couple of layouts I'm working on. One just needs the journaling added - the notes for it are in the tiny notebook by the saucer. And the saucer? I used it as a circle template to cut the photo that is peaking out from under the top layout. The stuff that's lying all around the layouts - inks, punches, alphas, pens, adhesives, etc. - just the materials used this session ... you'd think it was a week's worth of mess. The desk was immaculate before I started scrapping, honest!!

In fact, this is the first actual crafting I've found time for in several days. The reason being that I've been sorting stash, The red basket on right edge of the desk is testimony to that. It's intended to be the temporary resting place for any newly acquired goodies but in practice it was piled high with stuff that shouldn't have been there. No more! What's in there should be there and everything has been put where is ought to be :))

It all started with me deciding, as a result of this course I'm doing - scroll down to see more - that the way I had the 12x12 paper organised was not suiting me at all. And once I had sorted that out I was on a roll, 12x12 cardstock, A4 paper and cardstock, 6x6 paper, it all got sorted. Thanks to those of you who commented with helpful tips. Here's just one shelf ...

... is that not a thing of beauty? :)

I opted to organise by colour rather than by maker as before ... it just seemed to make selection a whole lot easier.

Admittedly, I did use up all the EM's labeling tape so a quick reorder was necessary, but it has been so worth it. I rediscovered some lovely sheets of paper I had all but forgotten, including one of the pretty papers on my workdesk right now.

I did promise myself that I would be brief this week but I've rambled on again ... must do better next week. And if you have wandered in from Mars/Venus and don't know what WOYWW is all about, do pop over to Julia's at the Stamping Ground where you will find an explanation and invitation to join in the fun. We show ours, so all you have to do is show yours :))

Once again, it's the wee small hours so I'm off to bed for now. I'll join you all later and can't wait to see what you've been up to.

Take care everyone, have a great WOYWW and happy crafting,

  2. Remember when I revamped the head teachers office ? I painted the bookshelves white gloss and the wall lime green. The coloured files looked fab against it all

  11. It sounds like you've been very busy with your reorganisation, Elizabeth but it's great that it's kick started your scrapbooking. I always sort my papers by colour, it makes picking them for projects so much easier. Mine are not as tidy as yours though, the boxes are all over the place!!!

  14. Excellent sort-a-rooney there Elizabeth, you'll find the papers are so much easier to mix and match now. Must admit to buying the X-cut circle and oval cutters many years ago and that are great for cutting photos as I like very much to crop my photos in shapes. Looking good BJ#30

  16. Now that level of organisation is both impressive and shaming to those of us who have piles of stuff everywhere!! What a good idea to organise by colour. That's going on a 'to do' list:) BTW, you need to keep out everything you've been using on a page/project until it's finished in case you need to add a little more of the same! Well that's my excuse anyway:) Happy WOYWW, hugs Buttons #96

  19. Hi Elizabeth

Your workdesk always looks a hive of activity and always has some lovely goodies on it too!!!

Loving the super neat organisation of your papers. I store my snippets by colour but don't think I could store my whole paper collection that way .. .. though I can see the advantages.

Isn't it lovely to get things sorted and stored where they should be.

Hope all is good with you and hubby.

    Love Jules xx

  20. Thanks for stopping by, I think we spend more time organizing than creating sometimes. Then to find it again...Have a great WOYWW and enjoy your crafting time

  21. Your paper looks sort well sorted and organized...
I love organizing almost as much as creating! teehee
I am not as good at it as when i was younger but luckily I have my youngest daughter who is an organizing marvel.
All her friends get her to come and organize their closets and cupboards when they move!!!

Your layouts look like they are going to be very pretty! love print in that designer paper.

  22. Hi Elizabeth! I'm just dropping by to let you know that the lovely Teddy Bear card you kindly made using one of my sample toppers has been added to my page here: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Cardmakers-Delights/Customer-Cards-Gallery.html I really hope that this is okay with you. I have linked to your blog, but if for any reason you wish for me to remove it, just let me know. Many thanks, Tracy -xxx- (Cardmaker's Delights)

  23. I find it is often the case when you get into sorting something you inevitably want to carry on while the momentum takes you, well done for getting it sorted, I hope it serves it's purpose better for you now.

  24. Hi Elizabeth,

I've decided to cut down my 12 x 12 sheets to 6 x 6.... especially since I'm not a scrapbooker. I'm trying to organize my craft supplies in a "hidden fashion" since I'm planning to put my place up for sale. We'll see.

    Happy WOYWW

  25. Great organization on the paper, but the box labelled Christmas is upside down and my fingers are itching to reach into the screen and put it the same way as all the others!!!! Looks like you're having fun looking at everything on your desk, I haven't been back in my room since I took the photo. The sock is coming along and I'm spurred on to get it finished so I can get something else on the needles. With the evenings drawing in and the electric lights on I'm having trouble with the darker wool colours and my eyes!

  26. Great organisation Elizabeth - it always inspires me to make something new when my craft room's all nice and tidy - but unfortuntely it doesn't stay that way for long!

  28. Hello!

I love your layout - it all seems so interesting! I love to click on the photos to see the detail of all that is on the workdesk! I sort on a regular basis - do not want to get overloaded again. I know that for me if I can't see it or access it easily I won't use it - and then I completely forget I have it. I was wasting too much money on impulse spending and then having it sit. So now I sort often and have only what I use. Wishing you a happy day!

    Hugs,

    Barbara Diane

  29. Well, I'm even later, bless us both! Thank you for stopping by. I got out on Sunday night, but yesterday was pretty useless. Today I'm hoping to make a card and do a posting, but first I'm catching up on a ton of comment mail.

Great job on keeping going (one thing leads to another!) with the reorg! I like what you've done and I'm all about the everything-in-its-place philosophy. Too much chaos and my mind won't create. I can't get over people's ability to do that!!

Not sure I'll do a WOYWW this week, one day at a time. If I do, see you there; if not, I hope you have a wonderful week! Darnell #42 (last week)

  32. I am sorry I am getting back to you late and it was worth it, I am pleased to see you have been active in the sorting department, now don't you feel heaps better for doing it. Now keep going, I did it years ago and have never looked back and would do it in a heartbeat all over again if the chance arose. One can never have enough organization and I was such a messy person too. LOL In shots of my space, not this week but in the past I have everything labeled such awesome little things are those labelers.

Such a great layout, you really should invest in a circle cutter they are the best things, to be honest circles are the hardest things to cut perfect, trust me the cutter will be money well spent.

thanks for sharing this week have a happy crafting week
    Eliza
