Scrapbook Remix Course - Prompts #1 and #2

Hi Everyone,

The EM, generous man that he is, treated me to the Scrapbook Remix course currently being run by Shimelle.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it and it's doing wonders for my scrapping mojo :) I'm now looking at my stash of paper in a quite different way and the big bonus is that the photos are coming out of storage boxes and being scrapped faster too.

The course is based on a series of prompts and videos which are easy to follow and bursting with hints and tips on how to use up all those lovely papers I have stashed away.

Here's the layout I created as a result of the first prompt.

Shame about the glare - no matter how I positioned this page I couldn't eliminate glare and this is the best shot I managed. You may remember seeing these photos of my gorgeous great-niece, Arihanna, before. I'm really pleased that they are now scrapped and in an album, rather than still on the computer destined to be forgotten. The base is white cardstock that I spattered with two shades of pink Cosmic Shimmer. The papers used are a mix of various A4 size paper collections that came free with a couple of magazines - some of the embellishments came from other collections acquired free too. The flower embellishments are a combination of my knock down priced silk flowers bought at a garden centre and rosebuds that the lovely Rita gifted me. The little silver flowers were also a gift, this time from my friend and neighbour, Ruth. The title word is from Kanban. This photo was taken before I remembered to add a little bit of journaling in the bottom right corner.

And here's the page from the second prompt.

No glare this time. The photo is of one of the Martello towers to be found on the Island of Jersey. The papers were all found in the RAK kindly sent to me by my Canadian friend, Maureen ... so what do you think Mo, have I made good use of the papers? :)) For this layout I've mixed up blue and brown tones and I've added a couple of clusters of embellishments that, I hope, don't distract from the photo. Some of the embellishments are simply squares of the same papers, just the reverse side, there's a couple of die-cuts, a few stickers and some washi-tape ... this is the first time I've used this and I'm pleased with the effect.

The photographs have been chosen and the papers for Prompt #3 are now lying on the workdesk, so I better go and start trimming them ready for the next stage.

I'll keep posting the layouts I create so you can see how/if I'm progressing with my scrapping :)

I hope you are all having a great weekend so far, whatever you are up to. I suspect for some, unlike this very  happy pensioner, it means catching up on things like shopping and housework, but hopefully you will find time for some fun too. This weekend that could mean bonfires and fireworks. Me, I'll be staying indoors, keeping The Boss company ... she's no fan of fireworks ... and watching Strictly on the box. We have a Cannon and Ball DVD for afters ... never let it be said, I don't know how to live. :))

So, whatever you are doing, keeeeep crafting :)

  4. Great layouts, Elizabeth. The first is so sweet...I love that photo of her chewing on her feet! Oh,so be that dexterous again!!! teehee

I am so happy to see the second one...So glad that you were able to put some of those pages to good use.

That course sounds like a good one...Anything that gets the photos out of the camera and onto the pages is a good one, in my book.

Sounds like you have a wonderful evening planned...We don't get strictly dancing...Is it an elimination type dancing show? My daughter follows an North American version of one like that.

We finally do get Call The Midwife and have thoroughly enjoyed 4 epidodes so far...

I have not used your pages yet...
I know what I want to do with several of them but got myself bogged down with the damn gardening cards and now I am making Christmas cards like there is no tommorrow!

You will eventually see them but I think it will be in early 2013...

I am busy planning all sorts of new Years resolutions for my card making and scrapping...just simple things really but things i hope will get me back on track to churning out some projects!!!teehee
