A Pair of Christmas Cards - Sunday Snippets

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all having an enjoyable weekend. Here in my little corner of the world we've had blue skies, fluffy white clouds and autumn sunshine today - so refreshing after all the rain of the last week.

After my trip to the book festival yesterday and visit to my daughter today I've found absolutely no time to craft but I do have these two snippet cards to share with you.

The card used for the base of the two cards has a printed script pattern. I picked it up at the craft show in Glasgow a couple of years ago and I'm ashamed to say it's only now that I've found a use for it. I have a drawer that contains patterned card - it looks lovely but what to do with it?!?!

Whenever I acquire a new embossing folder I test it out on leftover bits and pieces from the snippet drawer which then gets tossed into a box to wait for me to find a use for it. The embossed layers and toppers on these cards were rescued from that box.

Here's a better view of that cardstock.

Materials used:
Cardstock: A4 sheet of red printed card - I think this came from Payper Box; snippets of smooth white card, silver mirri card and black card for matting
Embossing folders: Craft Concepts Universal, Silver Fern; Spellbinders M-bossibilities, Regal, Design A; Sizzix Winter Botanicals, Botanical Patch
Greetings: from Sentiments 4 You; Stampin' Up scalloped oval punch
Embellishments: Anna Griffin, red velvet ribbon; gems from stash

Having used up so many snippets, I just have to nip over to the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop for the Sunday Snippets Challenge #41 so that Di can cast her eagle eye over my work ... and while I'm there I'll just take a quick peek at how work is progressing on the tree house :))

I would have posted some photos taken from our trip to the Book Town yesterday but I'm a bit pressed for time ... well, if I'm truthful, I'm hoping to settle down on the sofa for this week's episode of Downton Abbey shortly and - multitasking, of course - I'll be sorting through some photos at the same time ... so I hope you'll forgive me and I'll be sure to post them tomorrow.

In the meantime, thank you for reading this far, I'll bid you good evening and, of course, much happy crafting,

  5. Two great snippets card here Elizabeth - and super use of the 'script' card. Like you, I always try out a new die or embossing folder and have a box full of those sort of snippets - never thought of having regular rummage in there though! Thanks for the reminder :) Hugs, Di xx

  6. Hello Elizabeth, your snippet cards are beautiful, I love that red script card (I think I may even have some stashed away too). Love the embossing too and just had a peek at your previous post, that card is gorgeous too, never thought to use H2Os in that way, may just have to give it a try. Thank you for the inspiration. Crafty hugs, Anne x

  12. Two gorgeous cards. Hard to believe this is snippets! I have the silver fern EF, and I love how you used it here. Love the sparkly bit on this one. Would be hard to choose a fav, so I won't. Just say I love 'em both. Also love Downton Abbey. Can't wait til the USA starts on the next season. Our PBS ran the old ones recently. TFS
