Decoupaged Christmas Card - Week 5

Good Evening

What a couple of days we've had here. The weather has been appalling - oh, I know it's not as bad as in the States or Australia but the wind has been bad enough to rearrange pots, pails and gardening stuff. DH has given up hanging things back where they belong - he's waiting now till the storm dies down. I'm hoping that will be by tomorrow because I want to nip out and post a couple or three parcels that are going off to crafting peeps and I want to pick up this month's copy of Craft Stamper - great weekend reading :)

Added to that I got nothing much done craftwise because my Estate Manager/ The Health & Safety Office donned his overalls to become The Handyman and fixed both my computer desk and the bookcase that serves as storage for most things crafty. Both had become wobbly and precarious so, after taking every item off the shelves and desk, My Hero (aka DH, Estate Manager, The H&S Officer & The Handyman - who says it is only women who can multi-task) the drill, screws, bits of wood, etc., were brought in and first aid was administered. All is now safe and secure in my wee world again :) Of course, I had to put everything back whence it came and that took ages - a day practically written off.

Enough of my moans, on to the card. Yes, I'm still keeping up with my personal challenge to make one Christmas card a week and this week I've gone for black and red with a decoupaged Santa because I thought it would be okay for a male recipient even with the ribbon - well, it is tartan and not many men would object to that, would they?

Close-up of Decoupage

Materials used:

  • Cardstock: Black (base), red (matting)and white (embossed with Cuttlebug)
  • Paper: White copy for insert
  • CD: Santa's Christmas Treasures by Hinny Bop for decoupaged Santa and insert
  • Embellishments: Red tartan ribbon, bell shaped pearl charm, stocking shaped charm

Insert

This is probably one of the simplest cards I've made but I managed to make a right old bloomer during the making of it. I printed out the insert only to realise that it was for a portrait card and not landscape. There wasn't one with the correct orientation on the the CD so I had crop the original insert  (using MS Publisher) and then add them to matching mock vellum - it's worked out okay, I think.

I plan to enter this for the following challenges:

My Crafty Outlook's Christmas Challenge   - theme - include Santa
Snoflake's Christmas Card Challenge on Docrafts.

Hope you all have a great weekend planned and that the weather improves wherever you are.

In the meantime,
