Hello Everyone,
I hope you have all come through the storms without incident. Here on the west coast of Scotland Storm Boelo has left a trail of destruction in it's path. I'll pop a few shots taken by local amateur photographers at the end of this post.
In the meantime what's on my desk today?
Well, not a lot. I've not made any pages this week. Instead, I've been sorting through all the stuff I have stashed in my craftroom because it has got completely out of control. Something had to be done. On my desk is my collection of stencils to be sorted. You'd think that, as I have a file for them, I'd be able to keep them altogether. No! Not me! I found a few here, a few there as I worked through the many nooks and crannies in this room. The same was true of so many other bits and pieces. So once again, I find myself sorting, organising, clearing and being totally ruthless. There's just no point in keeping stuff I will never use again. I mean, why have I got a box full of grout powder?!?! On a much more pleasant subject. I'm planning to go, with my daughter, to the Shetland Isles for a week next year. Accommodation already booked. I haven't been away on holiday for seven years. My son-in-law has volunteered to care for Silver while we are away. So, as you can see, I'm forward planning by reading all about the islands. Talking of Silver, here she is today. Very much better than she was last week and looking good, She has hated the storms - bad enough that we had one, Boelo - the thunder and lightening terrified her - but to have another, Chloe, immediately after put her wee pink nose well out of joint. She doesn't go out much nowadays but she does like to nip out in the morning and check all is well in the neighbourhood. It's one of her two self-appointed responsibilities. The other is to look after me.There's many more photos recording the damage done to the streets and shops in Saltcoats, the town that adjoins Ardrossan but I thought these showed the just how powerful it was. That train was lashed as it passed through and, indeed, all trains were stopped soon after. It's going to take a lot of work to repair the damage to the sea defences too.

Im so glad Silver is feeling better. Bella has an exasperated fqce when the weather’s bad, like ‘C’mon, where hace you hidden the sunshine door?’
ReplyDeleteYour bin collection cartoon made me laugh out loud, and I think you’d want a solid roof on the seagull-proof fish n chips table, or they might get revenge viscerally on the lack of access to the chips!
Happy WOYWW

Well done on having that mammoth sort out, the perfect thing to do when a hooley is blowing outside! It was rough here too, the Atlantic was sweeping up and over our harbour. I hope Silver is happier now the storms have gone, bless her, I hate high winds too. I am soooooo jealous of you going to Shetland next year, a place that’s on my bucket list for sure, doing all the reading and research will definitely get you in the mood π₯°. The bin map made me hoot!

We're okay here though there have been lots of trees that have come down around Lincoln. I know all about craft room out of control. I had tried to sort my cabin during the summer but the heat was just too much. I am still working on a plan though. So well done you for sorting your stuff. Pleased Silver is better. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x10x
ReplyDeleteOh the plans for the break away sounds good, I've not been away for probably as long. Went to a NT garden last week and just sitting in the car for the 40-50 minutes each way did my back in and been in agony all week since...Oh my didn't hear of storm Chloe, must have missed that one down here. So much for the sea defences then.......love the anti-gull cage. Hugs Bj#9
ReplyDeleteGlad you're surviving the storms even if Silver wasn't keen...I wasn't pleased they spoilt my birthday weekend away but we made the best of it. I'm glad Silver is feeling better now and am thrilled tombits that you have a holiday booked....sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteHugs,

wewere lucky down here neither Austen or Boelo were too bad. Glad Silver is feeling better, and I love the funnies. How nice you have a holiday to look forward to . Helen #2
ReplyDeleteWell done on the great crafty sort out - it makes you feel a lot happier in your work when you find stuff quickly instead of having to search for it ( like I know what that feels like π€£). What a lovely holiday to look forward to. - Shetland always looks beautiful. x x Jo π
ReplyDeleteI' m glad you all came safely through the storms, Elizabeth ... it was wild here in Fife ... though not a lot of damage thankfully... sending extra purrs and tickles to Silver πΎπ«π poor wee soul and so happy to hear she's better this week ... long may that continue.
ReplyDeleteGood luck ☘️with your continued sorting ... it made me smile about the bag of grout powder π maybe it would work well mixed and used through your stencils ... see my mind went off on one π I need to sort out my craft things ... I keep closing the cupboard doors π€¦♀️but then can't find anything π!
What a joy it will be in Shetland ... my wee sister stayed there for about a year ( I think it was) I could hear the seagulls and the bells on the boats in the harbour when we spoke on the phone ... I'm excited for you and your daughter π₯°π€©
Wow ... those pictures definitely captured the storms perfectly!!! Alex works up in Tentsmuir forest ... thankfully not a lot of damage this time π€

ReplyDeleteNot late E , by my standard! Your coast really did take a double battering didn’t it, I must say I wouldn’t have liked to be on that train. I don’t know if it’s because the met office now name them, but we seem to be having more of these storms I think. Silver is so pretty isn’t she, I don’t blame her at all for largely being an indoor cat, and I’m so happy to read that she’s so much better, you kind of want to do it for them don’t you. I’m smiling at the idea of you being ruthless land even more so at your finding stencils in more than one place. You are not alone! I need a second room to empty the craft room into so that I can then order it and decant it back into place. I don’t think I have the strength!!!
ReplyDeleteThe storms do seem to get more ferocious, I hope you don’t get any more like that. It’s good to have a sort out, I need to do the same. As always I enjoyed the photos, Silver looks well, and I love the funnies, I wonder if the anti seagull cages will take off π. That sounds like a fabulous trip to look forward to xxx
ReplyDeleteI've seen documentaries and shows filmed in the shetland, and would love to visit sometime. Have fun! I feel sorry for sweet silver, because my Siamese is also terrified by thunderstorms. She hides under our dresser, and won't come out until it clears up. I have to say your storm sounds terrifying even to me. I hope no one was hurt, or had damage beyond repair. Blessings to you and your community..
ReplyDeleteHappy late WOYWW!
ReplyDeleteTried to hit everyone on the day but failed. Ah well...
Sorry Silver was a bit terrified. Poppy must be going deaf or the double glazing is good enough to block it all out :D. That storm does look a whopper. wow. Hubby and I watch Shetland and it's one show we rarely skip the credits LOL! Looks gorgeous there. Kudos to you on your resolve re: resolutions BTW!
